Ken Lawrence Jr. surpasses 3,000 Career Points

Ken entered this 2023 season, his 31st in the SJMTFL, looking to eclipse the 3,000 career points mark. The start of the season he was only 58 points away…

His SJMTFL career started with the Raiders back in 1992. A team his father, Ken Lawrence Sr., started in 1989. The Raiders capped off a 29 season run with an “A” Championship in 2017 which was their 23rd “A” Title.  With the QB Derreck Dixon throwing the TD passes to Ken during his Raider career.

Back in ’99, after I scored 208 points Derreck Dixon said to me that I would get to 3,000 points before I would retire – Ken Lawrence Jr.

At the end of 2017, Ken had 2,825 career points with lots of titles under his belt but he wanted something more that was within reach… the 3,000 career points milestone that was 175 points away.

In 2018, Ken joined the Bombers organization that was started by K.W. Parlee. The Bombers have won three “B” Titles and after each season Ken was getting closer to his milestone goal.

Then on a chilly Tuesday Oct 17th, 2023 evening, Ken’s 31st season and 5th with the Bombers, Ken caught the touchdown thrown by Jon Hachey to put his career points into the 3,000+ milestone.

Congrats Ken!

What an achievement and on behalf of the SJMTFL players present and past, we congratulate you on this amazing milestone.

I just want to thank the present and past players that I played with and against.  Without you all, none of this would be possible. Achieving this accomplishment was an emotional one, just wish Derreck could have been here to see it happen. – Ken Lawrence Jr.
